Children can lose up to one third of their body heat through their heads

Children should not only wear a hat in winter to look ultra trendy but also to keep toasty warm!
Children, especially younger children, can lose up to one third of their body heat through their heads when they're outside. The surface area of a childs head relative to the childs body surface area is much greater than that of an adult. They also generally have less hair on their heads (please note I said generally less hair!!) which means less insulation from the cold than adults.
Putting them in a hat that covers their ears as well as their head helps keep them warm and comfortable all winter long.
